Today we pass from the Agean Sea to the Black Sea, through the Dardanelles, the Sea of Marmara and the Bosporus Straits. We come to the Dardanelles at 4 AM, so we will not see them until we return next week. The Sea of Marmara is dotted with villages along the coast. The Bosporus Straits are a highlight of our cruise; here is Istanbul!

It's cold and windy as we pass between Asia on the starboard side and Europe on the port side. We're bundled up to watch the European treasures, the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sophia, the Topkapi Palace, the two large suspension bridges connecting the city. The strait is 20 Miles long and just a half mile wide in some places.

It's a pleasure to have Tom's brother, Bruce, along from Athens for the rest of our journey.
